Large, state of the art veterinary facility is seeking applications for a zoological medicine and surgery specialty position. Applicants should have a DVM degree and have a Diplomate status or board eligible in the American College of Zoological Medicine (ACZM) or Diplomate status in the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) in avian, reptile/amphibian, and/or exotic companion mammal specialties. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed a residency program in zoological/exotic medicine and who have a strong interest in zoological companion animals.

Hospital is a referral center, primary care facility and teaching hospital with 24-hour emergency service. We have a staff of 60 veterinarians with specialists in internal medicine, surgery, emergency and critical care, neurology, ophthalmology, cardiology, oncology, radiation oncology, radiology, zoological medicine and surgery, behavior and rehabilitation/integrative medicine.

The large, 3-level hospital encompasses 9 state-of-the-art surgery suites; including suites dedicated to neurology, orthopedic and minimally invasive surgery. The hospital has 19 examination rooms, 2 medical procedure rooms, MRI, CT, a medical oncology suite (including our bone marrow transplant center), a radiation oncology suite housing a linear accelerator capable of IMRT, and a large physical therapy/rehabilitation center.

Individuals applying for this position should have strong interpersonal skills and the personality to deal with a large and varied case load and clientele, including referring veterinarians. We are looking for a personable, happy, charismatic individual with strong inter-personal skills who fits well within our family. Preference will be given to individuals with a strong interest and demonstrated competency in zoological companion animal medicine and surgery.

Our zoological medicine and surgery service is equipped with state of the art endoscopy and surgery equipment. Our patients consist of a diverse representation of taxa, including, but not limited to, birds, mammals, reptilians, amphibians and aquatic animals. We also support local zoos and wildlife centers.
