We are seeking a compassionate and skilled veterinarian to serve as our Director of Shelter Medicine. This role oversees the medical care of shelter and community animals while providing leadership, guidance, and education to staff, volunteers, and the public.

The Director is responsible for physical exams, diagnostics, treatment, sterilization surgeries, and dental procedures for shelter animals, along with managing medical protocols, disease control, and emergency care. You will help shape and deliver community veterinary services, such as vaccine clinics, while ensuring responsible stewardship of medical inventory and equipment. Leadership responsibilities include mentoring veterinary support staff, training volunteers, and fostering a collaborative, mission-driven culture.

Qualifications:

• DVM or VMD and a Rhode Island veterinary license (or ability to obtain)
• Minimum 3 years of small animal practice or completion of a related internship
• High-volume spay/neuter experience or interest in training
• An understanding of shelter medicine is strongly preferred
