Shelter Veterinarian – Mendocino County, CA – #9869

A nonprofit animal shelter and veterinary clinic on California’s Mendocino Coast is seeking a full-time Shelter Veterinarian to provide medical care for shelter animals and affordable veterinary services to the community.

This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on high-volume spay and neuter, along with wellness care, diagnostics, treatment plans, dentals, and other surgeries as needed. Shelter medicine experience is helpful but not required; candidates should be comfortable with routine surgery or eager to develop those skills.

The veterinarian will serve as the primary veterinarian for the organization, working with an experienced support team and enjoying a high level of clinical independence. Relief veterinary support is also available. The typical schedule is weekdays from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with flexibility as a salaried position. Occasional urgent shelter cases may require after-hours or weekend attention, but this is not a traditional emergency or constant on-call role.

The ideal candidate is compassionate, practical, comfortable working independently, and willing to pitch in wherever needed.
