Position Overview
Our client, a leading global animal health organization, is seeking an accomplished National Accounts Manager to lead and expand relationships with key strategic customers across the companion animal market. This high-impact role is responsible for developing national account strategies, driving profitable growth, strengthening executive-level customer relationships, and identifying new opportunities to increase market share across veterinary clinics, corporate veterinary groups, distributors, buying groups, and emerging healthcare channels.
Reporting to senior commercial leadership, the National Accounts Manager will play a critical role in shaping customer strategy, influencing business decisions, and delivering sustainable revenue growth through strategic partnerships and innovative commercial programs.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Customer Leadership
- Develop and execute multi-year strategic account plans for designated national and regional accounts.
- Establish trusted advisor relationships with senior executives and key decision makers within customer organizations.
- Lead annual business planning, joint business reviews, and strategic growth initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to expand product adoption, increase share of wallet, and strengthen long-term partnerships.
- Negotiate and manage contracts, pricing agreements, rebate structures, promotional programs, and strategic partnerships.
Revenue Growth & Market Expansion
- Deliver annual sales, revenue, and profitability objectives across assigned accounts.
- Identify and capitalize on new growth opportunities within corporate veterinary groups, specialty networks, distributors, and emerging channels.
- Collaborate with commercial leadership to develop strategies that accelerate market penetration and customer acquisition.
- Analyze market trends, competitive activity, customer performance metrics, and industry developments to guide business decisions.
Executive Relationship Management
- Build strong relationships with C-suite executives, procurement leaders, operations teams, medical leadership, and key stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary commercial liaison between the organization and strategic customers.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, customer meetings, and national account events.
- Lead executive-level business reviews and presentations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Marketing, Sales, Veterinary Services, Supply Chain, Finance, Regulatory Affairs, and Commercial Operations teams to execute customer initiatives.
- Ensure alignment between customer needs and organizational priorities.
- Lead cross-functional projects that improve customer experience and business performance.
- Provide market intelligence and customer insights to support strategic planning.
Business Analytics & Forecasting
- Develop sales forecasts, account projections, and growth plans.
- Monitor account performance against key performance indicators.
- Utilize CRM and business intelligence tools to identify opportunities and drive decision-making.
- Prepare executive-level reports and strategic recommendations for senior leadership.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be a commercially driven relationship builder with a proven record of success managing complex national accounts within animal health, veterinary healthcare, healthcare, pharmaceutical, diagnostics, distribution, or related industries.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced business degree preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive success in National Accounts, Strategic Accounts, Key Account Management, or Commercial Leadership roles.
- Demonstrated experience managing large national customers and negotiating complex business agreements.
- Proven ability to influence senior executives and lead strategic business discussions.
- Strong understanding of commercial sales strategy, channel management, pricing, and contract negotiations.
- Experience working within highly matrixed organizations.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
Preferred Experience
- Companion animal or animal health industry experience.
- Experience working with veterinary corporate groups, distributors, buying groups, specialty organizations, or large healthcare systems.
- Familiarity with veterinary pharmaceuticals, biologics, diagnostics, nutrition, parasiticides, or related product categories.
- Experience utilizing CRM platforms, data analytics tools, and customer business planning processes.
