Life In Montgomery
In Alabama’s capital, you will find deep-friend bacon, stylish bars, and revitalized neighborhoods. But the city’s real draw is its museums and other sites that focus on the evolution of civil rights. This city played a pivotal role in the American Civil Rights Movement. It was in Montgomery that Rosa Parks famously refused to give up her seat on a bus in 1955, sparking the Montgomery Bus Boycott led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The city is home to important landmarks such as the Rosa Parks Museum and the Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church, where Dr. King served as a pastor. Exploring these sites provides a profound understanding of the struggles and triumphs of the Civil Rights era. Additionally, on the east bank of the Alabama River, the city also boasts a variety of activities based on and around the waterfront for those whose interests lie less with history and politics. And for the animal lovers out there, don’t miss visiting The Montgomery Zoo! The zoo offers a family-friendly and entertaining outing with a diverse range of animals from around the world. It covers approximately 40 acres and features over 300 animals, including elephants, giraffes, lions, and more! Discover the perfect blend of a charming southern town and a vibrant new south city in Montgomery.
