Are you an experienced veterinary cardiologist who wants to influence companion animal medicine on a scale that extends far beyond the patients you see each day?

An established and growing animal health company is seeking an accomplished Veterinary Cardiologist to join its team as Medical Affairs Director – Veterinary Cardiology.

This is an opportunity for an established specialist to use years of clinical experience in a very different way – educating veterinarians, advancing disease awareness, collaborating with fellow specialists and key opinion leaders, influencing new-product strategy, and helping shape how emerging therapies are introduced to veterinary medicine. Prior animal health industry experience is preferred but not required. An experienced cardiologist coming directly from specialty practice or academia may be an outstanding candidate.

This position is particularly well suited for a cardiologist who loves medicine but is ready for a new professional chapter.

You will serve as a highly visible clinical authority and trusted resource to general practitioners, veterinary specialists, key opinion leaders, professional organizations, and internal business teams. The organization is expanding its work in feline cardiovascular medicine, an area in which improved disease recognition and earlier diagnosis have the potential to meaningfully change patient care.

Veterinarians may need additional education surrounding disease recognition, diagnostics, echocardiography and ultrasound, disease progression, and evolving treatment approaches.

As a veterinary cardiologist, you will bring the clinical authority needed to engage general practitioners and specialists in these conversations and help increase understanding of cardiovascular disease in cats. You won’t simply be discussing a product – you will help advance understanding of the disease state itself.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as the organization’s veterinary cardiology subject matter expert and a trusted clinical advisor to internal and external stakeholders.
• Educate veterinarians on cardiovascular disease awareness, diagnosis, management, and emerging treatment approaches.
• Engage with veterinary cardiologists, general practitioners, specialty hospitals, academic institutions, veterinary organizations, and key opinion leaders.
• Support Professional Services Veterinarians and commercial field teams with advanced cardiology expertise.
• Visit veterinary practices and specialty hospitals to provide education and clinical support.
• Represent the organization at veterinary conferences, trade shows, professional meetings, advisory boards, and educational programs.
• Present sophisticated medical information in a practical and engaging way to audiences ranging from individual practitioners to national professional groups.
• Collaborate with Marketing on scientific messaging, educational initiatives, campaigns, and product strategy.
• Work with Research & Development and business leadership to provide the voice of the veterinarian on current products and future pipeline opportunities.
• Provide clinical guidance across the organization as new initiatives and products are developed.

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking an established veterinary cardiologist, rather than someone just completing residency.

• A DVM/VMD or equivalent.
• Board certification in veterinary cardiology (DACVIM – Cardiology or equivalent).
• Meaningful clinical experience practicing veterinary cardiology.
• Strong credibility among specialists and practicing veterinarians.
• The ability to communicate complex cardiovascular medicine clearly to general practitioners.
• Excellent presentation and public-speaking skills.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
• Intellectual curiosity and an interest in working across Medical Affairs, Marketing, Sales, and R&D.
• The ability to work effectively in a growing, entrepreneurial organization.
• A collaborative, approachable and servant-leader mindset.
• Just as importantly, we are looking for someone who is humble.
• This position requires a specialist who can sit across the table from a general practitioner and treat that veterinarian as a respected colleague – not someone who needs to be the smartest person in the room.
• Clinical excellence will establish your credibility. Your ability to listen, collaborate, teach, and build relationships will determine your success.
• Previous animal health or pharmaceutical industry experience is preferred but is not required.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary: $150,000-$195,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
• 17% target annual bonus, based on company and individual performance.

Location & Travel

• Highly qualified remote candidates located near a major metropolitan airport will also be considered.
• Approximately 50% travel is expected. Travel may include veterinary practice visits, specialty hospitals, veterinary meetings and conferences, internal meetings, and other business-related activities.
