If you’re a skilled, efficient surgeon who enjoys high-volume spay/neuter surgery, this is an opportunity to make an incredible impact. Join one of the nation’s leading animal welfare organizations, where every procedure helps reduce pet homelessness and expands access to veterinary care across the Chicago area.

This role is dedicated primarily to high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter surgery. Surgeons typically perform 30–40 sterilization procedures per day, while experienced high-volume surgeons have the opportunity to perform up to 70 surgeries daily. You’ll also perform select soft tissue procedures as needed while working alongside an experienced, collaborative veterinary team committed to exceptional patient care and surgical excellence.

The schedule consists of four 10-hour shifts each week, with hours generally from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Candidates must be available to work Sundays.

Compensation starts at $156,000 and can reach $290,000, depending on experience and surgical volume. Relocation assistance and a comprehensive benefits package are available.

Qualifications

• DVM (or equivalent) with an Illinois veterinary license or the ability to obtain one before employment.
• Experience performing high-volume spay/neuter surgery or completion of a recognized high-volume surgical training program.
• Ability to work efficiently while maintaining outstanding surgical technique and patient safety.
• Strong communication skills and a passion for improving the lives of animals through accessible veterinary care.
