We are seeking an experienced veterinarian to step into the role of Director of Veterinary Services to lead a team of passionate, focused doctors. Our client is a full-service hospital with an innovative blend of private practice and shelter medicine in the mountain town of McCall, Idaho. This position will oversee the practice’s Veterinary Medicine Program by mentoring associate veterinarians and serving a key role in high level, organizational leadership and initiatives.  

 Ideal candidate is experienced in veterinary medicine with an outgoing personality and able to lead all veterinary services. Daily duties include care of hospitalized patients, a variety of surgical procedures including high volume spay/neuter, and routine appointments. This position works in collaboration with shelter staff to maintain the health and welfare of the shelter population. Typical schedule is 40 hours per week with occasional weekends.  

 Qualifications 

• DVM degree from an accredited veterinary college 
• Currently licensed in Idaho or ability to obtain license upon hire 
• Eligible to obtain Idaho state pharmacy license and DEA license 
• 5+ years’ experience with canine and feline medicine 
• Enthusiasm to support shelter operations and shelter medicine program 

• Excellent customer service and compassionate communication skills 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following 

• Direct treatments for shelter animals and patients during regular and emergency appointments 
• Ability to create and implement protocols regarding the care and treatment of shelter animals  
• Support and mentor associate veterinarians and veterinary support staff
