Position Overview
A leading organization within the animal health and regulated manufacturing sector is seeking an experienced Director of Supply Chain to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight across all supply chain functions. This individual will be responsible for driving supply chain performance, ensuring product availability, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting continued business growth. The successful candidate will lead planning, procurement, inventory management, logistics, distribution, and supplier management activities while fostering collaboration across multiple business functions.
Key Responsibilities
Supply Chain Leadership
- Lead and develop supply chain teams across planning, procurement, inventory management, warehousing, and logistics.
- Establish and execute supply chain strategies aligned with organizational objectives and customer service expectations.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Planning & Inventory Management
- Oversee demand forecasting, supply planning, and inventory optimization processes.
- Lead the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process to align customer demand with operational capabilities.
- Monitor inventory levels, forecast accuracy, service metrics, and backorder performance to ensure optimal product availability while minimizing excess inventory.
Procurement & Supplier Management
- Direct sourcing and procurement activities for materials, components, and finished goods.
- Develop and maintain strong supplier partnerships focused on quality, compliance, continuity of supply, and cost effectiveness.
- Establish supplier performance metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Logistics & Distribution
- Manage domestic and international logistics, transportation, warehousing, and distribution operations.
- Ensure efficient, compliant, and cost-effective movement of products throughout the supply network.
- Identify opportunities to improve service levels while reducing freight, storage, and operational expenses.
Operational Excellence
- Implement process improvements, automation initiatives, and industry best practices.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators, including OTIF delivery, inventory turns, forecast accuracy, fill rates, and supplier performance.
- Lead risk mitigation and business continuity planning efforts across the supply chain.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Finance, Customer Service, and Commercial teams to support product launches, changing market demands, and strategic initiatives.
- Support integration efforts related to new products, acquisitions, and business expansion activities.
- Provide executive leadership with regular reporting, analysis, and recommendations regarding supply chain performance and risk management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive supply chain leadership experience within animal health, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, medical device, consumer health, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
- Strong expertise in demand planning, procurement, inventory management, logistics, and S&OP processes.
- Experience operating within FDA-regulated, GMP-compliant, or similarly regulated environments preferred.
- Demonstrated success managing supplier relationships, improving service levels, and driving operational efficiencies.
- Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- APICS, CPIM, or CSCP certification preferred.
