Director of Marketing – Canada

Director of Marketing (Canada)-The Director of Marketing, reporting to the CEO, will develop, manage and execute an annual strategic marketing and communications plan that spans across all communication (online and offline) media that will reach the appropriate target audiences, based on performance goals. This role will develop and oversee the promotion of branding initiatives consistent with corporate business goals and objectives and will oversee product management. This position will evaluate the success of communication strategies and will provide and implement recommendations for improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead strategy development for key project proposals to prospective clients
Develop and oversee the promotion of branding initiatives consistent with corporate business goals and objectives
Develop, manage and execute an annual strategic marketing and communications plan that spans across all communication media and reached appropriate target audiences
Evaluate the success of various communication/marketing strategies, and provide and implement recommendations for improvement
Develop and implement both short- and long-term tactical and strategic plans in accordance with business goals and objectives
Oversee the development and supervision of all marketing and communications strategies
Initiate research, development and implementation of new marketing programs, including direct mail, corporate sales, social media marketing, conventions, workshops, advertisements, sales tools and other initiatives
Maximize brand value through the development of ancillary revenue streams and new opportunities
Oversee the development and maintenance of all products, working with the Company’s Product Managers
Ensure all products, services and other offerings confirm to brand identify; conduct ongoing brand management
Develop marketing plans within budget requirements
Communicate and negotiate with promotional partners as needed for joint marketing activities
Establish and maintain relationships with strategic business partners and key stakeholders as it pertains to marketing and product development
Work with the CEO and communicate with the board of directors on internal and external issues that affect the organization and department
Participate in contract negotiations and maintain ongoing relationships with a variety of vendors
Ensure that areas of responsibility meet goals and objectives by providing systems, resources and training
Evaluate current business strategies, determining viability of changing management initiatives
Develop and uphold the organization’s mission, vision and values

Qualifications include an MBA or an advanced degree in an industry-appropriate field such as marketing, advertising, sales or business administration or equivalent progressive experience in a marketing management role, 10+ years of progressive experience in a marketing management role, understanding and familiarity with brand-building and brand management, proficiency in Internet marketing techniques, technologies and solutions, effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking and time management skills to meet deadlines, working knowledge and past experience in marketing with print and web-based media, ability to manage and co-ordinate the end-to-end marketing process while meeting deadlines and budget requirements, experience with strategic development and initiative-based project leadership, experience with product management, companion animal industry experience is preferred, marketing experience with SaaS products is preferred.
