The Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) reports to the Chief Executive Officer. This position is the medical leader of the organization and will oversee strengthening clinical leadership capability, advancing doctor engagement, and ensuring clinical standards are defined and supported across multiple sites. The CVO works closely with the talent team and operations to include recruitment, productivity, leadership effectiveness, and retention of doctors. The CVO will play an important role through clinical leadership in shaping outcomes. This is a visible role requiring field engagement and external representation of the organization’s medical leadership. The incumbent will support the alignment between the organizational growth priorities and clinical practices. The incumbent will be a thought leader on how to scale clinical excellence across a growing number of hospitals. The incumbent will define and operationalize enterprise clinical expectations that support safe, consistent care delivery across practices.
The CVO will strengthen the effectiveness of Medical Directors as leaders and clinicians and will coach medical directors through team leadership and consistent standards of care. The CVO will serve as a credible peer advisor within the organization and will build strong relationships with doctors across markets. The CVO will partner with business development in seller conversations and will support clinical continuity during onboarding of new practices. The CVO will help reinforce clinical expectations during periods of change. The CVO will participate in industry engagement and veterinary school outreach.
This is a remote position to be in the central or eastern time zone in the United States.
Qualifications
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree, demonstrated experience in clinical leadership within a multi-site growth-oriented organization, ability to influence performance, engagement and leadership outcomes, ability to lead through influence, experience coaching and developing leaders, especially Medical Directors, strong understanding of how clinical standards and quality expectations scale across multiple locations, experience partnering cross-functionally, proven success navigating growth, ability to build trust quickly, experience supporting industry engagement, professional outreach and supporting recruitment. Ability to travel up to 75% of the time.
