Board-Certified Veterinary Pathologist – Albuquerque, NM

We are seeking a Board-Certified Veterinary Pathologist or (or board eligible) to join a research team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This is a biomedical research organization that strives to push the limits of preclinical research while offering streamlined customer experience. The expansive bio-secure facility is equipped to handle just about any preclinical program, from investigational gene therapies to infectious disease solutions.

The Veterinary Pathologist will be part of a team with a larger scientific purpose, and the successful candidate will have the ability to see the big picture of the organization’s goals and be driven by desire to advance their research. They will also be able to collaborate effectively with internal and external clients and have an inquisitive scientific mind and the desire to learn new and exciting disciplines. In addition to providing technical guidance and oversight to personal in the necropsy, histology, and clinical pathology groups, the Veterinary Pathologist will evaluate ,interpret, and report on microscopic changes from a variety of animal models of disease; serve as the principal investigator or study director on a variety of sponsored programs; supervise and oversee the development and evaluation of disease models and safety/efficacy studies; support and develop investigator-initiated sponsored research programs; and perform all other related duties as requires or assigned.

Qualifications

  • DVM or comparable degree from an AVMA accredited program
  • Residency training as a Veterinary Pathologist
  • Minimum of 2 years of directly related experience in toxicological pathology or equivalent training/experience
  • Board certification from American College of Veterinary Pathologist (or board eligible)
  • Must have demonstrated thorough knowledge of animal anatomy, medicine, physiology, and pathology
  • Must have demonstrated working knowledge of histology, clinical pathology, surgery, pharmacology, bacteriology, virology, and other related disciplines
  • Superior professional-level written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal and organization skills; and the ability to work independently and as part of a team of researchers
  • Professional-level computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed

Preferred/Additional Qualification

  • PhD in biomedical science
  • Previous experience in CRO settings
  • Prior experience in infectious disease research and/or animal disease model development, toxicologic and/or infectious disease pathology

Compensation/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with experience
