Life in Vallejo
Love living in Northern California but despise the Bay Area’s notorious traffic and endless tourism? Vallejo is home to some of the Golden State’s most beautiful national and state parks and undeveloped beaches, and it’s full of cultural, historical, and art-related attractions. A particularly neat thing about Vallejo is its historical significance and connection to the naval history of the United States. Mare Island, located in Vallejo, was once a prominent naval shipyard dating back to the 1850s. While the shipyard is no longer active, it has left behind a rich legacy and is now home to various historic buildings, museums, and attractions. Visitors can explore Mare Island’s Naval Shipyard Historic District, which offers guided tours, showcasing the area’s maritime history and its contributions to the nation’s defense. Vallejo’s ethnic and cultural diversity, mild climate, relatively low housing costs, and burgeoning artist community make the twice-formed state capital an even more attractive place to call home.
