For more biking and hiking (as well as snowmobiling!), the area is full of trails that run through scenic countryside and small towns, offering a peaceful way to experience the area. Polk County is home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, black bears, eagles, and other birds. The area’s forests, wetlands, and lakes make it a great destination for nature lovers. There are great state parks that feature beautiful glacial potholes, cliffs, and hiking trails that again, offer stunning views of the St. Croix River. With over 400 lakes, Polk County is a haven for boating, fishing, swimming, and other water activities for those warm Summer days. In the Fall, visitors can explore local farmers’ markets, apple orchards, pumpkin patches, and visit working farms. The area is especially beautiful in the Fall during harvest season.
