3 Strategies for Boosting Your Career in 2014

It’s a New Year, one filled with the potential for new possibilities, especially in regards to your career.

The fact of the matter is that 2013 was one of the best years for the economy in the past five, and it appears that it’s still in the process of picking up steam and building momentum.  That’s good news for you.

According to recent CNNMoney.com article, monthly job creation is projected to return to 200,000 this year, which promises to present more opportunities for advancement—and more chances to boost your career.

In fact, that same CNNMoney.com article listed three strategies for doing just that, along with the best actions job seekers and candidates can take to utilize them.

Those three strategies are as follows:

Strategy #1—Leverage employer fears of losing talent.

Your Best Move—Do as much as you can to let the decision makers in your company know that you have what it takes to move up the ladder and fill an open position above you.

Strategy #2—Don’t waste your next move.

Your Best Move—If you do make a move, either with your current employer or with another company, make sure that it’s worth your while; in other words, make sure that it actually boosts your career in all the ways you want it to.

Strategy #3—Cast a wider net.

Your Best Move—Consider relocating, which is easier to do now (for a number of reasons) than it has been during the past several years.

This could be the year that your career takes off, IF you have a plan for advancement and IF you execute that plan to the best of your abilities.
