If you’re looking for a veterinary role that allows you to practice high-quality medicine while maintaining the freedom to enjoy your personal time, this could be the opportunity for you! We are seeking Traveling Veterinarians to work throughout Alabama.

Our Traveling DVM program is built for experienced veterinarians who want flexibility without giving up clinical excellence, earning potential, or strong support. Think of it as travel nursing for DVMs—a career designed around the way you want to live. Both full-time and part-time opportunities are available.

Where You’ll Practice

Traveling DVMs rotate among high-performing, community-focused hospitals throughout Alabama, ranging from exciting cities to welcoming small towns. You’ll have the opportunity to experience different practice environments, client populations, and caseloads while remaining connected to a consistent, supportive network. New locations are added regularly as our footprint continues to expand.

The Schedule

Pick your ideal rotation:

  • 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off — averaging 20 hours per week
  • 3 weeks on / 1 week off — perfect for those who prefer longer rotations

Both options are available — we’ll build the schedule around you!

Compensation & Coverage

  • $135/hr | Part-time, no benefits
  • $100/hr | With full benefits package
  • $2,500 annual CE stipend + paid CE time

Responsibilities:

  • Examine animals to assess their health and diagnose problems
  • Treat and dress wounds
  • Perform surgery on animals
  • Test for and vaccinate against diseases
  • Operate medical equipment, such as X-ray machines
  • Advise animal owners about general care, medical conditions, and treatments
  • Prescribe medication
  • Work closely in collaboration with team members to provide high-quality care

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required
  • Licensure in the state/s candidate will be working
  • Ability to show compassion to both pets and their owners
  • Outstanding dexterity in handling animals while performing precise tasks
  • Ability to react quickly and make decisions under pressure about the well-being of an animal
  • Strong fondness and understanding of animals
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of animal behavior
  • Ability to use medical technologies during the diagnosis, research, and surgery of animals
