VP of Sales, North America-(virtual position with travel required)  Pet Specialty (with vet preferred) – # 8227

This is a critical role for a company who recently entered the North American market.  This is an opportunity to make a mark and help the business in its infancy stages. It’s a unique opportunity to establish or consolidate your position as a senior executive in the pet industry, shape the future of the company and have the satisfaction of contributing in a significant way to its growth. The small size of the company allows the team to be nimble and move quickly in product development and decision making. While you will work independently, you will be part of a small, supportive team that is available to assist. There are no initial direct reports but as the business grows, this person will be responsible for team members. The desire to grow this important market is essential. This position is open due to expansion. Interviews will take place at Global Pet Expo in March.

Requirements:

  • Setting up meetings: Initiate and schedule meetings with potential distributor partners to explore collaborative opportunities.
  • Presentations: Deliver compelling presentations to distributors and key retailers, demonstrating the unique value of incorporating the company’s products into their product portfolios.
  • Distributor assessment: Evaluate potential distributor partners to identify the best matches for the company to achieve its objectives.
  • Trade shows and events: Attend industry trade shows and events to network, promote the company to retailers and distributors, and stay abreast of market developments.
  • Sales forecasting: Develop and maintain accurate sales forecasts to guide strategic planning and ensure alignment with sales targets.
  • Sales reporting: Compile and submit monthly sales reports, providing detailed updates on market trends, competitor activities, and overall sales performance.
  • Training sessions: Conduct training sessions for distributors and key retailers to enhance their knowledge of products and improve their sales techniques.
  • Field activities: Spend significant time in the field with business partners, offering hands-on training and support, and directly engaging with retailers to drive sales.
  • Travel 60%

Qualifications:

  • Proven sales experience and success at a senior level
  • 5+ years in pet specialty
  • Good knowledge and strong relationships and be respected by North American distributors
  • Strong communication, organizational and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of the veterinary distribution landscape is an asset
  • Independent
  • Outgoing and confident
  • Motivated and full of initiative
  • Ability to build relationships easily
  • An entrepreneur at heart
  • Experience working with southeast pet distributors is highly preferred
