Veterinarian High Volume Spay/Neuter Surgeon – Chicago, IL – #8260

We have a position open for a skilled veterinarian spay/neuter surgeon to lead a high-volume shelter in the Chicago area. This role focuses on performing and overseeing high-quality sterilization surgeries for owned and shelter animals while mentoring and training the surgical support team.

You will also oversee the low-cost vaccine clinic.

With no on-call or overnight shifts, this is a hands-on surgical role in a mission-driven environment. Our ‘No Kill’ model is making a real impact, and our team is dedicated to providing the best care while increasing access to affordable veterinary services.

We perform over 17,000 surgeries annually and aim to grow that number even higher.

This position is ideal for a veterinarian who is passionate about surgery and animal welfare. You’ll have the support, equipment, and team needed to excel while making a tangible difference in reducing pet homelessness.

Qualifications:

• DVM/VMD from an accredited veterinary school
• Licensed (or eligible) in Illinois
• 2+ years of experience performing high-volume spay/neuter (30-40+ surgeries/day)
• Expertise in anesthesia, pain management, and post-op care
• Strong leadership and mentorship skills
• Commitment to animal welfare and accessible veterinary care
