If you want to practice veterinary medicine in a cheerful, caring, and compassionate setting, then this is the opportunity for you. We would like to add an Associate Veterinarian to a team in Long Island in New York. This is a full-service small animal practice that has been providing exceptional veterinary medical care for more than 25 years. The state-of-the-art facility offers wellness and preventive care, diagnostic services, surgery, senior wellness, dental care, nutritional and behavioral counseling, and more.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of pets, clients, and associates by utilizing safe restraining techniques, following standard protocols, and maintaining clean, sterile, and organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs
  • Obtain relevant information and history from clients, and maintain proper and complete medical records
  • Educate clients about pet health needs, any diagnosis or treatment, hospital services, and other related information
  • Effective communication of diagnosis and treatment plan to veterinary medical team and clients
  • Understand and follow state guidelines regarding duties of veterinary assistants and licensed veterinary technicians

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent
  • License in good standing in state of VA or ability to become licensed in VA
  • License with the Drug Enforcement Agency required
  • Proven ability to perform all basic surgeries, including use of all standard medical instruments and equipment
  • Organizational skills, client services skills, and compassionate commitment to pet care
