Life in Kern County
When you think of Kern County, you might think of the famous Mojave Desert (home of Joshua Tree, Kelso Dunes, Death Valley, and more!), but there is so much to offer in this area of southern California. Life in Kern County is always an adventure! It’s a part of the U.S. that is a hiker’s dream with hundreds of trails throughout the Tehachapi Mountains, Red Rock Canyon, and Kernville. Additionally, you can explore the Sequoia National Forest by hiking through it and finding granite peaks, deserts, and forest views. It is simply incredible! Thrill-seekers can go white water rafting in the Kern River, and others seeking relaxation will love the natural hot springs in the river. Kern County is not how most picture California – it’s more rugged and situated off the beaten path. You’ll be 2 hours north of Los Angeles if you’re in the mood for a big city, and 2 hours east of Santa Barbara if you’re looking for a beach getaway, but generally, Kern County is full of great communities with small-town feels. It’s the number one oil and agriculture-producing county in the nation, which allows for a flourishing healthcare infrastructure. A thriving economy and outdoor enthusiasts’ dream makes Kern County a destination you won’t want to leave!
