Project / Product Manager – Southern California

Project / Product Manager -(Southern California) We have a position open for a Project/Product Manager based in Southern California. The Project / Product Manager will plan, execute and finalize projects according to deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.

The Project / Product Manager incumbent will create and execute project work plans and will revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. The incumbent will identify resources needed and assign individual responsibilities. The incumbent will manage day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope, review deliverables prepared by team before passing to client, effectively apply the company methodology and enforce project standards, prepare for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures, minimize the company exposure and risk on projects, ensure project documents are complete, current and stored appropriately. The incumbent will track and report team hours and expenses on a weekly basis. The incumbent will manage the project budget, determine appropriate revenue recognition, ensures timely and accurate invoicing and monitors receivables for project. The incumbent will follow up with clients, when necessary, regarding unpaid invoices. The incumbent will analyze project/product profitability, revenue, margins, bill rates and utilization. The incumbent may be asked to participate in enterprise initiatives, special projects and other duties as assigned.

This role entails Business Development. The incumbent will identify business development and “add-on” sales opportunities as they relate to a specific project. The incumbent will lead proposal efforts including completing project scoping and LOE assessments. The incumbent will effectively convey the organization’s message in both written and verbal business development discussions.

This role involves Communication. The incumbent will facilitate effective team and client meetings and will hold regular status meetings with the project team. The incumbent will keep the project team well informed of changes within the organization and general corporate news. The incumbent will effectively communicate relevant project information to superiors. The incumbent will deliver engaging, informative, well-organized presentations and will resolve and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion. The incumbent will understand how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.

This role requires Technical Understanding. The incumbent will possess general understanding in the areas of application programming, database and system design. The incumbent will understand Internet, Intranet, Extranet/service architectures and possess a thorough understanding of capabilities of the organization. The incumbent will maintain awareness of new and emerging technologies and the potential application on client engagements.

This role involves leadership. The incumbent will challenge others to develop as leaders while serving as a role model and mentor. The incumbent will manage the development of the team by ensuring, that project tasks are in line with each team member’s career interests whenever possible. The incumbent will inspire coworkers to attain goals and pursue excellence. The incumbent will identify opportunities for improvement and will make suggestions for change. The incumbent will manage the process of innovative change effectively. The incumbent will remain on the forefront of emerging industry practices.

This role involves teamwork. The incumbent will acknowledge and appreciate each team member’s contributions and will effectively utilize each team member to his/her full potential. The incumbent will motivate the team to work together in the most efficient manner.

This role involves Client Management. The incumbent will manage day-to-day client interactions and will set and manage client expectations. The incumbent will develop lasting relationships with the client personnel that foster client ties. The incumbent will communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions. The incumbent will build a knowledge base of each client’s business, organization and objectives.

This role involves Internal Operations. The incumbent will suggest areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions. The incumbent will lead internal teams/task forces and will review the status reports of team members and address issues as appropriate.

There is occasional travel required with this position.

Qualifications include a Master’s Business Administration with Doctor Veterinary Medicine (DVM) preferred with at least 2 years of experience in marketing. The successful candidate will understand basic revenue models, P/L and cost-to-completion projections and make decisions accordingly. The incumbent will understand the pricing model and billing procedures and will be able to accurately forecast revenue, profitability, margins, bill rates and utilization. The successful candidate will assure project legal documents are completed and signed.
