This role is responsible for the strategy, development and execution of veterinary doctor recruitment and retention efforts that are aligned with the organization’s current and future business and growth strategies. In this role, the incumbent will establish and implement a successful vision and strategy for veterinary hiring and retention.  In addition, the incumbent will create an exceptional candidate experience, develop and lead a talent acquisition team, support the efforts of the recruitment team, build relevant metrics to direct the activity and provide measurements and reporting to leadership and stakeholders. Other responsibilities include collaborating with Marketing and Human Resources to Drive a strong employment brand that positions the organization as an employer of choice amongst professional communities and passive applicants, including optimizing the social media approach.  The successful candidate will ensure consistent messaging across all employment marketing, job postings and communications and leverage social media and innovative channels to drive messaging and attraction to the employment brand. Working with IT to maximize effective and efficient recruiting-focused technology will be essential as well as managing the relationship with hospitals, current outside recruiting agencies and the Applicant Tracking System; monitoring and guiding vendor performance.  The successful candidate will develop an ongoing training approach to ensure recruiters and hiring managers have the knowledge and tools they need to be successful and will lead the team in creating strategic partnerships with professional organizations, universities, professional associations and other appropriate organizations.

Qualifications include a DVM, with preferred Board Certification or Residency Trained DVM a plus, experience hiring general practice veterinarians and veterinary specialists in a private practice environment, solid knowledge of Veterinary Operations, demonstrated leadership skills in identifying and developing professional and emerging talent, a great attitude and demonstration of strong management and interpersonal skills, thorough understanding of recruiting and staffing veterinary hospitals with an emphasis on developing processes that ensure the recruitment of superior performing talent. The successful candidate will be comfortable in ambiguous situations and has significant staff development and follow-up skills. Other qualifications include experience establishing and meeting budget goals in a difficult operating environment and  having established sources and relationships with outside veterinary organizations, veterinary schools and professional associations.
