Veterinarian Corporate Medical Director

Veterinarian Corporate Medical Director.  This role is for a Corporate Medical Director. The incumbent will grow the team and determine what the veterinary structure will look like and they will build it. The Corporate Medical Director works with regulatory, meets with state boards and is the license holder for them. The Corporate Medical Director will have a part in setting up best practices and will give directions on communications. This is a highly visible and critical role within the organization.

The Corporate Medical Director will establish trust between the Company and the Veterinary Profession and will expand and lead the Company’s veterinary team to support expansion initiatives. The Corporate Medical Director will drive the Company’s veterinary expertise through strong collaboration with Operations, Training and Recruiting teams.

This role will require significant leadership responsibilities associated with their ability to lead people, respond to significant and complex challenges and professionally represent both the industry and the Company’s brands through both the internal channels and various external forums and associates. The incumbent must be able to inspire and develop people at all levels internally and externally based in integrity and professionalism in both public forum as well as in the individual interaction with external partners and other Company colleagues.

The incumbent will work with a cross functional team in the management and decision-making process when partnering with host locations, fulfillment pharmacy and our laboratory partner. The incumbent will guide policy decisions and training pertaining to veterinary medicine to assist the Help Desk in providing information and follow up to clients. The Veterinarian Corporate Medical Director will work closely with the Veterinary Engagement Team to manage policy communication and client experience issues with veterinarians. The Corporate Medical Director will develop protocol and polices regarding the company’s recommendations and guidelines that are in the best interest of clients and align with current best practices.

The Corporate Medical Director will assist with client and manufacturer follow up after an adverse event has occurred. The Corporate Medical Director will travel to various clinic locations nationwide to assist with regulatory meetings and business development. The incumbent will maintain a veterinary license as the business needs dictate.

Qualifications: 15-20 years of progressive experience in the veterinary industry, veterinary services medical experience, knowledge of vaccines, proven ability to grow the business while developing veterinary best practices, success in understanding customer behavior, building and leading teams in a fast-paced growing environment.

Education: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with license in good standing, MBA preferred; not required, solid understanding of the animal health industry, market trends and business environment, deep understanding of the interactions between clinical functions, sales, marketing and service interaction across all brands, strong educational background in nutrition, intestinal parasite prevention and heartworm, prevention as well as heartworm disease in both cats and dogs, strong product knowledge including heartworm and flea/tick preventatives and vaccine protocols. This is a strategic role but we also need someone who can roll up their sleeves and dig in and get their hands dirty.

Skills required include solid strategic thinking and problem solving, ability to work under pressure and as a change agent within the company, able to communicate effectively with clients, both internal and external, self-motivated and self-managed; able to think independently, strong leadership and people management ability, be able to work in a fast-paced fluid environment, computer literate, able to travel extensively.
