Pet Food Veterinary Channel Development Vice President

Pet Food Veterinary Channel Development Vice President-The Veterinary Channel Development Vice President is in charge of senior-level strategy and planning, which supports the growth, profitability and key strategic initiatives for the veterinary business to deliver company objectives. The Veterinary Channel Development VP will establish and implement direction for the veterinary channel team, providing leadership to develop a high performance organization, support new business opportunities and strategic partnerships, overseeing development of products and services for veterinary channel expansion.

This position is field based and can be located anywhere in the continental US.

This critical position supports the development of the veterinary strategy, overseeing the development and implementation of specific strategic initiatives while managing cross-functional projects and collaborating with the corporate office and global teams. This role will support international operational teams as needed.

The VP will develop business and financial models in line with strategy and oversee key activities to launch new products and grow new channels as well as lead cross functional task force meetings. The incumbent will lead and develop a fast growing team, creating processes and tactics for key initiatives and selling strategies as part of the sales leadership team. The VP will maintain a sound understanding of the business goals and strategies, products, markets, customers, competitive situations and key players related to the organizations products and will make recommendations on profit and service improvements. The VP will negotiate contracts with clients and will determine needs of prospective customers and will evaluate the company’s resources to meet those needs. The VP will understand the customer, their strategy and their market and offer products in line with the customer’s brand strategy. The VP will participate in industry events and will build brand presence. The VP will oversee financial modeling and analysis as well as will support brand strategy and the budget process and market development projects. The VP will develop and maintain new market launch and brand presentation. The VP will interact with cross-functional teams while representing the needs and interest of the international markets. The VP will build collaborative relationships between cross-functional teams and regions and will review and approve new launch forecasts working with the Sales Planning Team. The VP will collaborate with product development, marketing, finance and operations to develop and execute profitable long term business strategies and annual business plans to grow the business. The VP will work with senior leadership, customers and industry associations to gain knowledge on current and emerging trends in the marketplace.

Qualifications include passion and experience in the veterinary business channel, strong business acumen and business development skills, rounded business experience and good people skills. The successful candidate will have experience managing a profit center as well as building and developing successful teams. The VP will have experience in a matrix environment. The VP will have a strong track record of sales leadership with 7-10 years in the veterinary channel with responsibility for driving growth as well as extensive knowledge of the industry across all customer types. The VP will have success in mobilizing an organization against critical business priorities and ability to identify, develop and grow talent. The VP will have the ability to process, create and organize a business plan. The VP will be comfortable working with financial reports and managing a division P&L . Other qualifications include strategic thinking skills, detail oriented, entrepreneurial spirit, independent thinker, decisive, nimble, experience recruiting, developing and managing both direct and indirect customers, experience with leading discussion with potential partners, building business cases, presenting and qualifying solutions, track record of working in a business development role at a strategic level, analytical thinker with managerial, organization, forecasting and relationship building skills. The VP will have skills in translating business requirements to actionable solutions. A Bachelor’s degree is required. We strongly prefer the candidate to have recent experience in the pet food/nutrition industry.
