Corporate Training Director

Corporate Training Director

A veterinary organization is looking for a Corporate Training Director to devise the organization-wide training strategy and plan, and be the leader in developing the knowledge and talent of the company. You will work closely with the Corporate Medical Director, Regional Directors, Field Operations Managers and other leaders in the field and throughout the business to implement training, and to oversee and ensure the capability and performance of our clinic staff and operations leadership. The Corporate Training Director will also identify current and future training needs, translate business priorities into a strategic framework for development, facilitating effective execution of key learnings, participate personally in training and as an expert in learning and development, and become a trusted advisor to colleagues throughout the business.

Essential Functions
• Identify and assess future and current training needs through job analysis, consultation with line managers and company leadership, employee and pet owner feedback, and annual performance appraisals
• Develop an overall and position specific training plan that address the needs and expectations for each employee
• Deploy a wide variety of training methods
• Redesign on-boarding process – conduct effective induction and orientation sessions.
• Monitor and evaluate training program’s effectiveness, identify capability gaps within the organization and work with leadership to remediate performance gaps
• Manage training budget
• Provide opportunities for on-going training
• Ensure field operations leadership can reinforce key training with their teams
• Maintain understanding of training best practices, update and develop new approaches
• Customize training to meet the specific needs of various locations as needed

Qualifications / Experience
• BS/BA with a concentration in Learning and Development, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Business, or similar field (MA or MS in a related field preferred)
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a training and development role
• Experience leading a learning & development team in a private-sector with experience designing and delivering both company-wide programs and function-specific programs
• Proven experience designing, implementing and providing training across a large organization with remote locations
• Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods (in-person training, group and one-on-one training, mentoring, coaching, on-the-job training, e-learning, workshops, simulations, etc)
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Strong facilitation and presentation skills
• Strong writing and record keeping ability for reports and training manuals
• Experience with veterinary or human health services and related training is a plus
• Ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively
• Able to engage and personalize training to independent and staff veterinarians, skilled staff, and to potentially employees of our retail partners

• Able to communicate effectively with clients
• Problem solver; quick decision maker in an ever-changing, dynamic environment.
• Self-motivated and self-managed; able to think independently
• Ability to stay abreast of changes in the Veterinary field
