Convention and Meeting Planning Director

Convention and Meeting Planning Director-The Convention and Meeting Planning Director will direct strategy, planning and execution of meetings and conventions including site selection, budget, continuing education and logistics and will direct and supervise the activities of the Meeting Planning and Convention Staff. The Director will oversee staff, negotiate agreements for meetings, will identify and develop educational program and events designed to attract attendees and sponsors and will hire, manage and mentor a team.

Qualifications include 7-10 years of management level experience in meeting planning and conventions, ability to strategically plan and coordinate all phases of convention and meeting functions and have contract knowledge and contract negotiation skills. The successful candidate will be able to handle multiple priorities and deadlines and will function well as a team member, be creative with proactive project management skills and have strong computer skills including Microsoft Products and Meeting and Exhibit Management Tools. The successful candidate will need to travel as needed and be  able to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends as required.

A Bachelors Degree is required. A Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) is desirable.
