Chief Medical Officer

Chief Medical Officer.  

We have an open position for a Chief Medical Officer for a world renowned prestigious veterinary organization. The Chief Medical Officer will provide medical oversight, direction and leadership for all aspects of veterinary healthcare delivery and will be a key member on the executive leadership team.

The Chief Medical Officer will provide advise and counsel in defining and accomplishing the organization’s mission and goals and will ensure high quality veterinarian care.

The Chief Medical Officer will develop annual goals and oversight and will ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. The Chief Medical Officer will anticipate and identify key source information to analyze problems and determine creative solutions. The Chief Medical Officer will identify trends, problems and opportunities and will implement action plans in an effective and efficient manager aimed at promoting goals/resolving issues and will strive to improve efficiencies of key operational areas.

The Chief Medical Officer is accountable to the CEO & Board of Trustees

Qualifications include considerable independent decision making with veterinarians, members, subordinates, other departmental leaders and external vendors, regulatory and accreditation agencies. The Chief Medical Officer will have excellent communication skills both oral and written and will have tact and diplomacy skills sufficient to successfully carry out the responsibilities of the position. Knowledge of clinical practice of veterinary medicine, health care delivery systems, utilization methods and treatment protocols is required. The successful candidate will possess a patient-centered orientation to promote and advance a culture of quality and safety and will have proven leadership, organizational skills, be able to lead change, aspire to excellence, work independently, communicate respectfully, and provide direct and honest feedback as well as have a servant leadership mentality.

Board certification is required along with 6 years of clinical practice experience in veterinary medicine. Experience in the clinical practice of medicine, utilization methods and treatment protocols is required. The successful candidate will have demonstrated successful administrative and leadership competencies and outcomes from their relationship building skills, emotional intelligence and capabilities. Other qualifications include the ability to listen, gather information, influence and assume responsibility for challenging and difficult decisions, including willingness to recommend and cooperate in corrective action with respect to practitioners and specified health professionals and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
