Vice President of Veterinary Affairs-(Field Based Role)

The Vice President of Veterinary Affairs is a member of the executive leadership team and will work with the C-Suite and others to support the organization’s efforts to achieve revenue and operational goals. This role is responsible for the commercial veterinary affairs of the organization, with emphasis on customer facing responsibilities, but including contributions to business development, strategic partnerships, marketing, education and training by providing veterinary specific knowledge, expertise and perspective. This position identifies trends in the veterinary companion animal health industry and contributes to discussions on business impact and strategic direction. The position provides veterinary medical support to both internal and external customers in order to align strategic direction and business objectives.

The Vice President of Veterinary Affairs will act as the face of the company to the veterinary profession at all levels, including private practice, corporate practice, academic institutions as well as the animal health industry. The Vice President of Veterinary Affairs will be the eyes and ears of the company in order to bring veterinary customer perspective, opinion and feedback to senior leadership. The Vice President of Veterinary Affairs will be the spokesperson for the company to spread the corporate and brand specific messaging to all levels of the industry in order to develop excitement, engagement and loyalty.

The Vice President of Veterinary Affairs will work with veterinary affairs counterparts of corporate veterinary consolidators and the animal health corporations and distributors as part of sales outreach and ongoing account management and support. The Vice President of Veterinary Affairs will participate in trade shows and social events involving the veterinary community. The Vice President of Veterinary Affairs will participate in the development of marketing plans and strategic discussions to ensure medical, scientific and technical accuracy and to optimize effectiveness. This position will liaise with marketing personnel for review of outgoing reports, white papers and other customer facing content.

This role will assist in the development of veterinary related training materials for internal training and continuing education and will facilitate veterinary medical support of sales representatives to answer questions for ongoing learning. The role interacts with veterinary customers about products and participates in practice and corporate presentations.

The Vice President of Veterinary Affairs will support the university/veterinary college strategy of the company, including but not limited to establishment and maintenance of relationships of key opinion leaders including faculty and deans. The Vice President will act as faculty and student liaison and veterinary representative of the company and will provide value added services including education, training and social events.

The incumbent will collaborate on product development and advise as requested on elements of product that require veterinary input and expertise.  The role will assist with business development activities, including strategy, calls, visits and presentations as requested. The role will provide outreach to veterinary medical professionals, the academic community and end-users.

The Vice President will participate in veterinary association activities, special events and educational events and act as a representative of the company. The incumbent will attend select and veterinary and professional organization meetings and seminars in order to develop and enhance the organization’s standing in the industry.

Qualifications include a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree, Animal Health Industry experience and excellent standing within the industry. This individual will be a well respected individual within  the Animal Health Industry. There is a 30-40% travel requirement with the position.
