Business Unit Manager – Veterinary Services

Focus of this position is on implementation of the strategy and tactics, integrating the commercial and technical aspects of marketing planning and to work closely with sales and Veterinary Services in the execution of the strategy.

The incumbent will develop and recommend final marketing plans and budgets, product positioning and pricing to the marketing manager with input from other managers to maximize profit contribution.  The incumbent will prepare and update product sales forecasts and communicate with production planning to ensure adequate supply without excessive inventory.  Will serve as marketing representative on project teams to develop new products and line extensions to ensure future growth.  Will interact with customers, the sales force, industry opinion leaders and other market influencers to enhance the product line success and keep abreast of changing customer needs and competitive activity. Will work closely with advertising agencies to develop advertising and promotional tactics that support the strategy.  Will assist with sales training and will analyze and evaluate changing market dynamics which include competitive pricing, marketing and position strategies, company mergers, customer attitudes and perceptions, population trends, and emerging diseases and health problems. 

Qualifications include a B.S./B.A. degree with strong technical background or equivalent knowledge in Animal or Biological sciences gained through another science-based degree.  A minimum of three years of previous work experience in the Animal Health industry is critical.  Previous marketing and sales experience is preferred.  Excellent communication and problem solving skills is a must.

National Sales Manager

The National Sales Manager is responsible for the overall coordination, the functional management and leadership of all of the sales activities of our client’s Business Unit. The position reports directly to the General Manager, and is based in the Corporate Headquarters.

 Main duties and responsibilities include: 

1. Planning:

 The National Sales Manager is responsible for creating both annual and monthly sales objectives in coordination with Marketing, Finance and the Company’s business plan.

 The National Sales Manager is responsible for providing an annual Sales Plan and providing quarterly updates, revisions and modifications to the Plan.

 The National Sales Manager is responsible for coordinating the specific objectives of the Sales Plan with all of the functional departments of the company and, most specifically with Marketing and Finance.

 The National Sales Manager establishes both market and target customer strategies for the Company – including National Accounts.

 2. Execution

 The National Sales Manager defines and manages the quarterly and annual sales objectives for all of the Business Unit sales personnel. The position is responsible for understanding the needs of the market place, their requirements to conduct business, and how our product and sales program offerings can satisfy both – our Company objectives and the needs of the market place.

 The National Sales Manager is expected to be knowledgeable of market and industry trends, competitors, and leading customer strategies.

 The National Sales Manager is expected to spend a significant portion of time in the field both with individual accounts and traveling with sales personnel.

 The National Sales Manager, in coordination with the General Manager and Financial Controller, establishes compensation plans for all sales personnel including salary structures, commission plans, sales contests and bonus plans.

 Qualifications:

 Must have Animal Health Industry experience, especially in the retail (pet) sector

10-years of sales management – primarily field sales managers and personnel.

Has developed and executed tactical sales plans including quotas and account objectives.

Is highly organized and has very effective time management skills.

Is a demonstrated leader among employees and customers.

Is highly computer literate and uses sales database tracking programs to manage all aspects of the sales call cycle.

Strong negotiating skills and capacity, while keeping the Company’s financial objectives in mind.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong listening skills.

Building relationship with customers – distributor and retail (pet) sector

Bachelors Degree.
