The Medical Director is responsible for ensuring high quality medicine and an outstanding client experience in each of the MULTIPLE hospitals that they supervise. They will achieve this goal through recruiting, hiring, coaching and supervising veterinarians and by working with field directors to ensure the presence of outstanding paraprofessional teams.

In addition, Medical Directors partner with field staff to ensure outstanding business practices and a high degree of professionalism in each hospital. Medical Directors are expected to teach medical and surgical skills and to evaluate performance through frequent visits to hospitals. 

Qualifications include a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent foreign degree is required. A minimum of two years leadership experience and three years clinical experience is required, with proven ability to perform all basic surgeries, including use of all standard medical instruments and equipment. At the time of hire, an active veterinary license in good standing and related controlled substance licenses are required for the state in which the majority of the MD’s hospitals exist. For any additional states where the MD has hospitals at the time of hire, or if a new territory is acquired, necessary licenses must be obtained at the next available licensing date. All licenses must remain active for each state in which the Medical Director has hospital responsibility.

Technical Services Veterinarian – Florida

This position is responsible for the technical support of our client’s sales team in the Florida territory.  The incumbent will contribute to the success of our client’s business by leveraging scientific knowledge and creating collaborative relationships with internal and external customers. The incumbent will align with and execute sales, marketing and R&D strategies for the companion/equine business unit and will provide technical support to the regional sales team through in client visits, seminars and by leading group discussions and working at state and national meetings. Will enhance awareness at veterinary schools through presentations to students, interaction with faculty, residents and interns and managing relationships with key college administrators. Will support Pharmacovigilance efforts through timely response to inquiries, with attention to supporting Veterinarian/Client/Patient relationships. Will provide technical expertise to the sales department via development and delivery of training materials and support of company activities at major veterinary conferences.

Qualifications include a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and a minimum of three to five years of clinical practice experience or its equivalent. The incumbent must have a sound understanding of and accomplished skill as a companion animal/equine veterinarian. This position focuses on clinical services and training programs for practitioners and technicians in small animal clinics, and with the academic contacts in universities and technician schools. The team of Scientific Services Veterinarians fulfills a crucial role in the dissemination of scientific information regarding to the veterinary community. The Scientific Services team is also integral to the technical support and outreach services provided by our client. 

Required 

  • A Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (or equivalent) with an active license in one or more states is required
  • 2+ years employment as practitioner
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (oral and written), including copy-writing ability
  • Excellent PC skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat)
  • Outgoing personality and the ability to function as a team player

Desirable

  • Previous experience in sales, communications, education

 LOCATION and REPORTING HIERARCHY:

  • The position reports directly to the Veterinary Scientific Services manager
  • This position will have a sales region as geographical area
  • Overnight and weekend travel required, up to 80% time 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing case consultations for veterinary clinics
  • Outreach to veterinary colleges and veterinary technician schools, and education for the veterinary community are major facets of each veterinarian’s duties.
  • Development of marketing materials that are focused, clear, and effective at increasing awareness and understanding of our client’s line. 
  • Assist in the internal training of associates during their tenure with the company
  • Educate associates through regional and national meetings, conference calls, and direct trainings.
  • Representing the company at national veterinary conferences
  • Develop product sales through universities
  • Initiate clinical trials in referral and general practice environments
  • Maintain relationships with top clients and referral practices.
  • Perform and develop seminars 
  • Through their professional activities, Scientific Services veterinarians will serve to perpetuate the values of ‘knowledge and respect’ and ‘animal first’ and promote the success of the product line.
